En | In a process of deconstruction / reconstruction and, as if it were a chronological error, João Fortuna reinterprets and transports iconic works from the History of Art to a disruptive contemporary scenario.
The confrontation between the bucolic and nostalgic figures of the past and the exacerbated and chaotic scenarios of the present, creates a reflective narrative where the failures and excesses of our society are explored. ‘’ The Marat Disconnection ’’, ‘’ Salvator Burger ’’ or ‘’ The Death of Venus ’’ are some of the works that put us face to face with our unruly way of life.
Pt | Num processo de desconstrução/reconstrução e, como de um erro cronológico se tratasse, João Fortuna reinterpreta e transporta obras icónicas da História da Arte para um disruptivo cenário contemporâneo.
O confronto entre as figuras bucólicas e nostálgicas do passado e os cenários exacerbados e caóticos do presente, criam uma narrativa reflexiva onde se exploram os fracassos e excessos da nossa sociedade. ‘’A Desconexão de Marat’’, ‘’Salvator Burger’’ ou ‘’A Morte de Vénus’’ são algumas das obras que nos colocam frente a frente com a nossa desregrada forma de vida.
En | The starting point of this exhibition is found in ‘’ The Disconnection of Marat ’’, this was the work that marked the beginning of what would become a year and a half of production around this idea of appropriations and reinterpretations. The subjects reflected in the artworks came to me naturally, some started from my anxieties, others inspired by news, photographs or daily actions. The production process was quite laborious, between staging, setting of scenarios, models, photographs, cuts and collages, the exhibition gained body and identity
Pt | O ponto de partida desta exposição encontra-se na ‘’ A Desconexão de Marat’’, foi esta a obra que marcou o inicio do que viria a ser um ano e meio de produção em torno desta ideia de apropriações e reinterpretações. Os assuntos refletidos nas obras foram-me surgindo naturalmente, alguns partiram das minhas ânsias outros inspirados por notícias, fotografias ou ações quotidianas. O processo de produção foi bastante trabalhoso, entre encenações, montagens de cenários, modelos, fotografias, cortes e colagens a exposição foi ganhando corpo e identidade.
