En |Almost 100 years later, the city that Thea von Harbou describes in ''Metropolis'' (1926) is not so far from what some cities are today.
Geometric buildings that rise to the sky, full of lights that dazzle us, bridges and suspended platforms that cross our gaze. A delirious and constant movement of people, cars and planes, in a futuristic, dehumanized and gray city.
''Metropolis'' is an urban dystopia, where the city is nothing more than the mirror of society, where Man builds the city while the city shapes Man.
This city made by many, but for few, this machine-city that consumes whoever builds it, this habitat that paradoxically sinks into the very material that forms it, cement. “Metropolis” is just an illusion

Pt | Quase 100 anos depois, a cidade que Thea von Harbou descreve em ‘’Metropolis’’(1926) não está tão distante daquilo que são algumas cidades dos dias de hoje.

Edifícios geométricos que se erguem para o céu, repletos de luzes que nos ofuscam, pontes e plataformas suspensas que cruzam o nosso olhar. Um delirante e constante movimento de pessoas, carros e aviões, numa cidade futurista, desumanizada e cinzenta.

‘’Metropolis’’ é uma distopia urbana, onde a cidade não é mais do que o espelho da sociedade, onde o Homem constrói a cidade ao mesmo tempo que a cidade molda o Homem.

Essa cidade feita por muitos, mas para poucos, essa cidade-máquina que consome quem a constrói, esse habitat que paradoxalmente se afunda na própria matéria que o forma, o cimento. ‘’Metropolis’’ não passa de uma ilusão
